Equipment Return Conditions

We appreciate that even though our clients may use their best efforts to maintain leased equipment, normal wear and tear does occur.
Detailed below is what we consider to be normal ‘Wear and Tear’.

Normal Wear and Tear

Describes the expected cosmetic wear that may generally appear on an asset or system used under normal circumstances during the lease term. Faded lettering on keyboards, slight plastic colour fading; Minor surface scratches on plastics or metal base; Removable client asset tag labels, stickers and help desk numbers.

Unacceptable damage or condition

  • Removal of OEM serial number identification, FCC product tags, or Microsoft COA;
  • Security, Anti-Theft Marking, for example stamped, scored or burnt markings into the case;
  • BIOS/Admin passwords not removed from machine, locking processor/hard drive;
  • Cracked and/or chipped plastics, bent metal frames;
  • Broken and/or missing hinges and latch catches;
  • Scratched monitor glass and/or LCD panels, LCD cracked beyond repair;
  • “White spots”, screen burn on smartphones, laptop, tablet and monitor glass Missing keycaps from keyboards, missing or damaged keys on a laptop or portable;
  • Broken and/or missing panels, cover plates or media doors;
  • Major equipment discoloration or dirt requiring more than light cleaning for resale/ reuse;
  • Extensive physical damage that prevents the system from being remarketed/reused.

Equipment function

  • Missing/Damaged Hard Drive: Occurs when hard drive is missing, inoperable or has any portion of damged sectors or drive is smaller than original specification;
  • Missing/Damaged Memory, damaged, non-functioning memory or memory is incompatible with model specifications or memory denomination is below what was present at lease inception;
  • System Failed to Boot: Machine returned an error indicating system board failure, Power On Self-Test (POST) failure and defective system board.

 

Phone & Tablet Grading 

Fair Wear and Tear Accepted Quality – No charge on return Grade A

  • Front glass will have no scratches.
  • Device may show some evidence of ‘not new’, a single minor imperfection for example.
  • Rear case may have very superficial evidence of the device being ‘not new’ but only on close inspection.
  • Apple logo or any other branding will be blemish free and have no marks or scratches.
  • Home button must have no marks or scratches.
  • Rear case may be in marginally worse condition than the front.
  • Device will have no chips, cracks dents or broken casework.
  • All handsets GSM unlocked (unless specified).
  • PIN, Touch ID and iCloud (FMI unlocked).
  • Fully functional and Data Wiped.

Non Fair Wear and Tear Accepted Quality – Charges will apply Grade B

  • Front glass may have some light scratches or one minor medium scratch
  • Fine, superficial damage is acceptable.
  • Rear case may have moderate signs of wear such as light pitting or evidence of a protective cover.
  • Apple logo may have a minor imperfection / superficial scratch.
  • Home button may have light markings.
  • Rear case may be in marginally worse condition than the front.
  • Device will have no chips, cracks dents or broken casework.
  • All handsets GSM unlocked (unless specified).
  • PIN, Touch ID and iCloud (FMI unlocked)
  • Fully functional and Data Wiped.

Non Fair Wear and Tear Accepted Quality – Charges will apply Grade C

  • Decent overall condition.
  • Front glass may have medium to heavy scratches.
  • Well used with moderate to heavy / deep scratches on front glass and rear case.
  • Grade C devices will show obvious signs of wear and tear but are still in a perfectly usable condition with no physical damage, cracks or smashes.
  • Small nicks / dents in body are permitted. Significant signs of impact and physical damage are not.
  • Across batches some devices may show ‘pinking’ or slight variation in colour on outer edges of LCD’s. This is consistent with aging product.
  • All handsets GSM unlocked (unless specified).
  • PIN, Touch ID and iCloud (FMI unlocked).
  • Fully functional and Data Wiped.

Non Fair Wear and Tear Accepted Quality – Charges will apply Grade D

  • An item that does not function as intended or is not fully operational. This includes items that are defective in ways that render them difficult to use, items that require service or repair, or items missing essential components.
  • Contains devices where the cosmetic standards do meet A-C criteria.
  • May have cracked glass but LCD module is still intact.
  • Casework may be bent or broken.
  • Minor faults may be present, these include but are not limited to – camera, volume buttons, earpiece, vibrate, microphone, headphone socket network signal, passcode locks, not reading sim and proximity sensor.
  • There may be pixel damage or minor white spots showing.

Laptop & MacBook Grading

Fair Wear and Tear Accepted Quality – No charge on return Grade A

  • Screen will have no scratches with no pixel damage.
  • Front case may show some evidence of ‘not new’, a single minor imperfection for example.
  • Rear case may have very superficial evidence of the device being ‘not new’ but only on close inspection.
  • Rear case may be in marginally worse condition than the front.
  • Manufacturer logo or any other branding will be blemish free and have no marks or scratches.
  • Track pad / Keys / Buttons may show light marks and must be functional.
  • Device will have no chips, cracks dents or broken casework.
  • All Passwords, PIN numbers, Touch ID and iCloud accounts must be removed.
  • Fully functional and for security should be Data Wiped.
  • All charging accessories must be included and in full working order.

Non Fair Wear and Tear Accepted Quality – Charges will apply Grade B

  • Screen will have no scratches with no pixel damage.
  • Front case may show fine superficial damage.
  • Rear case may have moderate signs of wear such as light pitting.
  • Rear case may be in marginally worse condition than the front.
  • Manufacturer logo or any other branding may have minor imperfection / superficial scratch.
  • Track pad / Keys / Buttons may show light marks and must be functional.

Non Fair Wear and Tear Accepted Quality – Charges will apply Grade C

  • Rear case may have moderate to heavy / deep scratches.
  • Rear case may be in marginally worse condition than the front.
  • Grade C devices will show obvious signs of wear and tear but are still in a perfectly usable condition with no physical damage, cracks or smashes.
  • Small nicks / dents in body are permitted. Significant signs of impact and physical damage are not.
